HOBBIT PALS JOIN FORCES FOR ROAD FILM
Cath Bennett And Beverley Lyons

AS Hobbits, they were inseparable. Now Lord Of The Rings stars Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan are about to make a road movie of their own.

Billy and Dom, who played Pippin and Merry, are great pals in real life and have now drafted in award-winning Scots playwright David Greig to help take their pet project forward. The pals want to play themselves in a comedy they've called Wild Colonial Boys about two inept Brits on a road trip around America.

Billy met David Greig when he starred in his play San Diego at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival - and he knew David was the right person to help write the film.

The idea was born during Lord Of The Rings.

Billy said: "Dom and came up with the idea of doing a film while sitting up a mechanical tree.

"We have just had a meeting together and it looks like a first draft of the new script is imminent."

DISCLAIMER: I wish I could say I know Billy. Sadly, I don't. Not even a little bit. Also, you should know the standard disclaimer by now, so I'll put it in my own, far more colorful vernacular: The sayin's and notions on this site are the sayin's and notions of the gal that takes care of this place and they ain't got nothin' whatsoever to do with Mr. Boyd or his official website. It's all my doin'. But I'd probably buy a used car from the dude that runs Billy's site. He's a pretty good dude.
